Sucanat, (SUgar CAne NATural)
is a brand name for organically grown, dehydrated cane juice. The juice
extraction processes are mechanical, and unlike typical sugar cane processing,
no chemicals are added. Studies showing that raw cane juice, as compared
to refined sugar solutions, is less likely to cause dental cavities
have led to the supposition that the evaporated cane juice may also
prove better for your teeth. The manufacturer makes no claims; however,
the fact that the product is organic and contains no added chemicals
still makes it superior to common granulated sugar. The average sugar
content is 85%, with all of the complex sugars, minerals, and molasses
retained.
