A unique number - Ahnebrøk (numerator and denominator of an ancestor fraction) - is attached to each individual. The number above the slash tells the total number of ancestors in a specific generation. The number below (after) the slash gives exact position within that generation. Males are given an uneven number and placed to the left of their spouce.
